The first residential building, completed in 2016, was originally designed for 20 babies and toddlers and provides a loving home for Dunia ya Heri's youngest residents. Newborns and infants are taken in here — a rarity, as few orphanages in Dar es Salaam are prepared to care for such young children. The rooms are child-friendly and offer a homely atmosphere where the little ones can feel secure. Here children learn their first words, take their first steps and receive the love and care of the aunts (Shangazi). This building is where abandoned and often traumatised children become joyful, self-assured personalities who radiate genuine happiness and contentment.
