Newsletter June 2026
Dear Friends and Supporters of Dunia ya Heri,

After the unrest surrounding the presidential elections in October, calm has finally returned. However, we are now facing new challenges: concerns about a possible fuel shortage in Tanzania. Thanks to our precautionary reserves, we can manage for some time. Nevertheless, we hope that the experiences of previous oil crises—with long queues and limited fuel supplies—will not be repeated.
At present, we care for 41 children in our children's home. Our primary school is attended by 146 students, and an additional 23 children are enrolled in preschool.
In this newsletter, we would once again like to give you a brief insight into some of the activities our children have been enjoying.
Pathfinders
At the beginning of March, thanks to our volunteer Julio from Brazil, our children gained their first experiences as Pathfinders. They are learning to work as a team, develop personal responsibility, and grow in character.
As part of the Pathfinder Club, the children also participated in environmental activities, collecting litter along a road and at a nearby beach.
Football
Despite the rainy season, our children take advantage of every sunny day to play outside and enjoy nature. They especially enjoy playing football together.

Baking Bread

Our older children are discovering and developing a love for cooking and baking—valuable life skills that can also become a blessing to others.
Crocheting
Some of our girls recently discovered the art of crocheting. With great creativity, they are quickly learning how to combine colors and patterns and create practical items for everyday use.
Music
Music holds a special place at Dunia ya Heri—as a source of joy and worship. Therefore, instrumental lessons are a regular part of our children's daily lives.

Visitors
We were blessed to welcome friends and visitors. We also celebrated Mama's birthday together. We are very grateful to God for all these blessings.
Beginning of the School Year
The school year in Tanzania begins in early January. Some of our children were especially excited as they looked forward to starting their very first year of primary school.
Kibidula
In January, our oldest children traveled together with several caregivers to Kibidula, a mission project in southern Tanzania. There they gained insight into a large avocado farm and an agricultural training school. At the same time, they enjoyed a wonderful holiday experience and became acquainted with the cooler climate and unique vegetation of Tanzania's higher-altitude regions. welcome!
These experiences will remain in our children's memories for a long time. Many thanks to Kibidula for the warm welcome!

Mikumi

The journey to Kibidula passes through Mikumi National Park. Our children were thrilled to experience Tanzania's impressive wildlife up close.
Smiles
Life feels lighter when we choose to smile. Our children turn small moments into great joy and brighten everything around them with their genuine smiles.
Volunteers
At the end of last year, we said goodbye to three of our volunteers: Anna Bazan and Anninha Auroja after two years of service, and Cora Web:er after three months. We are grateful for their valuable work and for the many ways they supported, guided, and inspired our children.
Since the end of January, Julio Santana Lima has joined us and plans to stay for two years. Angela Roberta is expected to continue her service until early 2027.

Projects - Construction
We are delighted that the extension of our primary school, including two new classrooms, was completed at the beginning of this year. Our heartfelt thanks go to all sponsors, especially ADRA Luxembourg and our partner Restore a Child, for their generous support of this project.
At the beginning of 2026, construction began on a new home for our older boys. We hope to complete the building by the end of the year, allowing us to begin construction of a similar home for our teenage girls.
However, our greatest challenge remains the construction of our secondary school, which must be completed by December 2027 so that our children can continue their education there.
A Thank You to All
Due to the rising cost of living in Tanzania, we have increased our employees' salaries to help them keep pace with higher living expenses. Thanks to the support of many sponsors, we are still able to cover our monthly operating costs of approximately €12,000—and for this we are deeply grateful.
Every donation and every act of support helps ensure that Dunia ya Heri remains a place of security, hope, and opportunity. Thank you for being part of this story.
With warm greetings from Tanzania,
Your Dunia ya Heri Team
